Core prompt: Malaysia has announced that it has imposed an antidumping (AD) duty on electrolytic tinplate imports from China and South Korea for five years starting from November

Malaysia has announced that it has imposed an antidumping (AD) duty on electrolytic tinplate imports from China and South Korea for five years starting from November 16. Accordingly, the antidumping duty rate for Chinese imports stands at 9.78 percent, while the duty rates for South Korea range between 3.46 percent and 9.78 percent.

On the other hand, the Malaysian government has found that China-based Baoshan Iron & Steel (Baosteel), Zhongshan Zhongyue Tinplate Industrial and Shanghai Meishan Iron & Steel did not sell dumped goods to the Malaysian market. These three Chinese companies are excluded from the antidumping duty.

The antidumping investigation was launched in February this year upon the application filed by domestic tinplate producer Perusahaan Sadur Timah Malaysia (PERSTIMA) Berhad.

The good subject to antidumping duty is currently classified under Harmonized System Code Number 72130.12.200.
